A license is required to provide foster care in your home. An application (SFN 893) is required to begin the process. All adults living in the home must successfully complete a fingerprint-based criminal background check. In addition, orientation and pre-service training must be completed by the prospective foster care provider/s. A Licensing Specialist will be assigned and will visit the home to complete a home study and make a determination to approve or deny a license.

To find the agency nearest you or to visit with foster care representatives about the licensing process, contact the UND Children and Family Services Training Center (CFSTC) at 1-833-FST-HOME or 1-833-378-4663. You may also choose to complete an online interest form.
