The North Dakota Diabetes Prevention and Control Program (DPCP) works with communities, health care providers, and partners to prevent type 2 diabetes and support North Dakotan adults living with type 2 diabetes. The program is supported by a cooperative agreement with the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC).

Preventing Type 2 Diabetes

More than 1 in 3 American adults has prediabetes, and most don’t know it. Prediabetes means blood sugar levels are higher than normal but not yet high enough for a type 2 diabetes diagnosis. It can often be reversed through lifestyle changes.

Living with Diabetes

If you have been diagnosed with type 2 diabetes, classes and support programs can help you manage your condition, avoid serious health problems, and live well. Many are covered by Medicare, Medicaid, and private insurance.

Type 1 Diabetes

This autoimmune condition can develop at any age and is managed differently than type 2 diabetes.
Visit the Type 1 Diabetes for Families page (North Dakota Health and Human Services) or trusted national for information and support.

North Dakota Diabetes Data & Reports

State law previously required the Department to submit a diabetes report to the Legislature every two years.
Note: That law was repealed in 2025. The reports below are the full archive.
