The North Dakota Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) is utilizing the North Dakota Department of Health (NDDOH) Institutional Review Board (IRB) as the formal IRB of record for any research activities involving HHS employees and/or consumers. NDDOH IRB will assure that all scientific research conducted within the scope of DHS responsibility is consistent with applicable state and federal laws, regulations, and ethical principles, which relate to the protection of human subjects of research.

ND DHS holds a Federalwide Assurance, number 00003290 from the Office for Human Research Protection (OHRP) in the federal Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS). This FWA is a binding agreement between DHHS and the ND DHS and is updated and renegotiated at regular intervals. This Assurance remains in effect until 1/31/2023 unless the ND DHS is otherwise notified.
