What is the Summer Pandemic Electronic Benefits Transfer Program?
The Summer Pandemic Electronic Benefits Transfer Program, or Summer P-EBT, helps families with the cost of food for children during the summer months. If your family qualifies, help is available for children ages 0-5 and school-age children.
This program is a partnership between the North Dakota Department of Health and Human Services, the North Dakota Department of Public Instruction and the USDA, Food and Nutrition Services.
What do I need to know about P-EBT?
- Children ages 0-5 who received SNAP benefits from September 2022 through May 11, 2023.
- School-age children that were eligible for free or reduced-priced meals during the 2022/2023 school year.
Children ages 0-5 do not need to apply as eligibility is based on SNAP participation.
Families with school-age children will need to apply online.
For children ages 0-5 the amount will be based on the months each child received SNAP. The total benefit amount will range from $19 - $171 for each eligible child.
For school-age children the amount will be determined based on the child’s eligibility for free or reduced-priced meals. The total benefit amount is $120.
Summer P-EBT benefits will be placed on an Electronic Benefits Transfer (EBT) card.
For children ages 0-5 that were receiving SNAP, the Summer P-EBT benefit will be placed on the same card SNAP benefits were issued to.
If you no longer have the EBT card for SNAP, you can request a replacement card from the FIS Customer Service Helpline at 1.800.630.4655.
Families with school-age children will be mailed an EBT card at the address indicated on your application.
If you also received SNAP, you will receive a new card just for Summer P-EBT.
Activation instructions will be included with the card.
Cards are accepted at SNAP authorized food retailers. A list of authorized food retailers can be found at https://www.fns.usda.gov/snap/retailer-locator.
A mobile app for managing your account, ebtEDGE, is available Apple Store and Google Play.
For more information visit the EBT webpage.
For children ages 0-5 benefits will be issued mid-June.
The timing of benefits for school-age children will be based on when the family applies.
