I am having trouble logging in. What are my next steps?

Existing Providers

1. Remember to set up a ND Login if you don't already have one. If you do not have an account, the first time you login to the Child Care Licensing system, you will be redirected to create a ND Login.

  • Your ND Login account email must be the same as the email on file in the Child Care Licensing system.  Contact your Licensing Specialist to verify the email on file

2. For existing providers, the initial account in the Child Care Licensing system was set up to only be accessible to Owners/Operators or Supervisors/Directors.

  • If someone outside of these roles needs to have access to the portal, they need to be added by the Owner/Operator or the Supervisor/Director as an authorized contact.
  • This will require the Owner/Operator or Supervisor/Director logging in and granting access to this person via the authorized contact link on the dashboard page for the Provider program.
  • When the Owner/Operator or the Supervisor/Director logs in, they will select the applicable Provider program from the selection page, which will open up the Dashboard for that program. When the Dashboard page opens there is an Authorized Contact link that displays in the Other column at the top right side of the page.
  • After clicking this link you will be directed to an Authorized Contacts Page where you can manage (Add/Remove) individuals that need access to the Portal. This will only apply to that Program.
  • Please note – If you have an individual that will be responsible for the paperwork for multiple Provider programs – they will need to be added as an authorized contact to each program. This can be done by entering the dashboard page for each Provider by following the steps above.

3. If you meet the criteria above, you will be directed to a Provider Selection page where you can access the Portal for your program. Click the applicable name on this page and you will be redirected to the Dashboard page for that program.

  • If you meet the criteria above for multiple programs, you will see each one on the Provider Selection page and can select one accordingly.

4. If you believe that you are set up correctly with a ND Login and as a Owner/Operator or Supervisor/Director and after logging in are NOT directed to a Provider selection page to open your Dashboard page but instead are directed to a New Provider Page asking ‘Are you a new Provider applying for licensure for the first time’ there may be an issue with your account.  Please contact your Licensing Specialist.

5. If you are logging into a program that is licensed but you have not been set up with access, you will be directed to the ‘New Provider’ page. The question on this page should prompt you to answer ‘No’ and a message stating that you are not set up yet for the designated Provider program will display. If you encounter this message contact the Owner/Operator or Supervisor/Director and ask that they add you as an Authorized Contact.

If you are applying for Initial Licensure

1. Remember to set up a ND Login if you don't already have one. If you do not have an account, the first time you login to the Child Care Licensing system, you will be redirected to create a ND Login.

2. After successfully logging in you will be directed to the New Provider Page to create an Account in the Child Care Licensing System.

3. On the New Provider page you will respond ‘Yes’ and follow the steps on the subsequent pages for creating your account.

4. After entering your information, and relationship to the Provider program, you will be redirected to the Provider Selection Page where you can select your Provider program and access your Dashboard page.

5. If you experience any issues completing these steps, contact your License Specialist and be prepared to inform them of the exact steps taken before an error occurred.

6. If you are able to successfully create an account and then have an issue on a subsequent login attempt, please contact your Licensing Specialist.
