Public comment is being sought on the five-year renewal of the Medicaid 1915(c) Children with Medically Fragile Needs Home and Community-Based Services (HCBS) waiver.
The Medically Fragile Children’s Waiver currently provides services to children between the ages of three to 21 who are medically fragile. The goal of this waiver is to assist families in keeping their child home instead of having to place them in a nursing home or hospital to receive needed care. Some of the services able to be provided are in-home support, equipment and supplies and environmental modifications.
Comments and public input on the waiver five-year renewal application will be accepted from Jan. 28, 2026 to Feb. 26, 2026, at 5 p.m. CT.
