Ambulatory Surgical Centers (ASC) in North Dakota are certified by the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services to take part in the Medicare and Medicaid programs.
An Ambulatory Surgical Center is a facility that provides surgical services to patients who do not need to stay in a hospital. Receiving care in an Ambulatory Surgical Center is designed so that patients can go home within 24 hours after being admitted.
To operate as an Ambulatory Surgical Center, the facility must have an agreement with Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services to participate in Medicare. It must also meet the federal Conditions for Coverage found in Subparts B and C of 42 CFR 416.25–52.
