The Legislative Management Study of Child Care Provider Licensing was created through House Bill 1119 during the 69th Legislative Session. The study reviewed childcare licensing laws, administrative rules, and policies. The legislative management study was required to include input from HHS, a childcare services advisory committee, and childcare providers.
As part of the study, childcare providers from across the state shared feedback through online and in-person listening sessions and a statewide survey. Providers shared ideas about making licensing requirements easier to understand, reducing paperwork and improving support for programs while continuing to keep children safe and healthy.
Thank you to the those who served on the committee and to everyone who attended the listening sessions or completed the survey. Your feedback helped shape the final report and will guide future discussions about childcare licensing in North Dakota.
Early Childhood Director Kay Larson delivered the final report to the Interim Human Services Committee on behalf of the Child Care Services Advisory Committee and the Early Childhood Services Advisory Board.
