Food Handler Training
Food handler training provides food workers with information on how to safely handle, prepare, and serve food. This training is recommended for all food workers.
Food handler training is not required in North Dakota Food Code but may be required in some areas of the state. Contact your local public health agency for more information.
How to Take Food Handler Training
You can take food handler training by:
- Completing a food safety training course (such as one provided by the link below).
- Attending a food safety training approved by the state or local regulatory authority.
Food Protection Manager Certification
A Certified Food Protection Manager (CFPM) is an individual who meets the requirements below:
- Has supervisory or management responsibility over food workers, food preparation, or service.
- Has demonstrated knowledge of food safety regulations by passing a certification test from a recognized accredited program.
It is recommended that food establishments in North Dakota have at least one supervisor or manager who is a CFPM. A CFPM is not a requirement of the North Dakota Food Code but may be required in some areas of the state. Contact your local public health agency for more information.
