Human service zones have local offices in each county. These offices, formerly known as county social service offices, help people access services and supports, including the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP); Temporary Assistance for Needy Families (TANF); heating assistance; Medicaid, including children’s health services; 1915(i) home and community-based services; basic care assistance; child care assistance; child welfare services, including foster care and child protection; and referrals to other local resources and programs.
In a human service zone, the host county is responsible for administrative functions for the zone, including payroll and other human resources functions.
