North Dakota Health and Human Services (HHS) has partnered with Providence House Minot to expand access to residential substance use disorder treatment for pregnant and parenting women across the state.
The Pregnant and Parenting Women program, launched Sept. 1, will provide a safe, family-centered residential environment where children can live with their mothers while their mothers receive comprehensive addiction treatment and recovery support. This model removes a critical barrier to care by allowing women to seek help without having to be separated from their children.
“We are thrilled to announce the expansion of our women’s program to include both mothers and their children,” said Morgan Layne, executive director of Providence House Minot. “This project will give us the much-needed space to create a safe, supportive environment where mothers can receive essential care while keeping their children close. By addressing this critical gap in North Dakota, we ensure that mothers will not have to choose between receiving the treatment they need and their children.”
Layne added that the program will provide comprehensive recovery services and foster an environment that keeps families together, breaking the cycle of addiction and building healthier futures. She expressed gratitude to HHS for helping bring the program to life.
“This is a major step forward in providing specialized support to pregnant and parenting women across our state,” said Layne.
HHS Behavioral Health Administrator Sarah Lavelle said the partnership supports the agency’s strategic priorities to strengthen families and communities by expanding access to high-quality services.
“Residential treatment that keeps mothers and children together can be a turning point for a family,” Lavelle said. “By combining recovery services with parenting support, we give families the best chance for long-term stability and well-being.”
Providence House Minot will host an open house Monday, Sept. 15, at 10 a.m. including new facility tours and a guest speaker. The event is located at 423 Main Street S, Minot.
