The North Dakota Diabetes Prevention and Control Program (DPCP) works with communities, health care providers, and partners to prevent type 2 diabetes and support North Dakotans living with diabetes. The program is supported by a cooperative agreement with the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC).
Are You at Risk for Type 2 Diabetes?
More than 1 in 3 American adults has prediabetes, and most don’t know it. Prediabetes means blood sugar levels are higher than normal but not yet high enough for a type 2 diabetes diagnosis. It can often be reversed through lifestyle changes.
Answer a few quick questions to find out if you are at risk for type 2 diabetes. It's free and takes less than one minute.
The National Diabetes Prevention Program (National DPP) pairs participants with a trained coach and a small group to build healthy habits. Participants learn to eat well, get more active, manage stress, and stay motivated. Classes are available across North Dakota in person and online.
Diabetes Management
If you have been diagnosed with diabetes, classes and support programs can help you manage your condition, avoid serious health problems, and live well. Many are covered by Medicare, Medicaid, and private insurance.
Diabetes Self-Management Education & Support (DSMES) programs are taught by trained diabetes educators and cover topics like medications, healthy eating, physical activity, and daily self-care.
Better Choices, Better Health is a support program led by North Dakotans living with diabetes and other chronic conditions.
