The North Dakota Diabetes Prevention and Control Program (DPCP) works with communities, health care providers, and partners to prevent type 2 diabetes and support North Dakotans living with diabetes. The program is supported by a cooperative agreement with the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC).

Are You at Risk for Type 2 Diabetes?

More than 1 in 3 American adults has prediabetes, and most don’t know it. Prediabetes means blood sugar levels are higher than normal but not yet high enough for a type 2 diabetes diagnosis. It can often be reversed through lifestyle changes.

Diabetes Management

If you have been diagnosed with diabetes, classes and support programs can help you manage your condition, avoid serious health problems, and live well. Many are covered by Medicare, Medicaid, and private insurance.

Clinical Resources

Health care providers can access clinical guidelines, referral tools, and quality improvement resources through the following:

  • CDC Diabetes Clinical Resources — prevention, screening, and management tools for clinicians: cdc.gov/diabetes/professional-info
  • ADA Standards of Care in Diabetes — annual evidence-based clinical practice recommendations: diabetesjournals.org
  • Association of Diabetes Care & Education Specialists (ADCES) — DSMES accreditation, provider training, and practice resources: diabeteseducator.org
  • NDC3.org — refer patients to North Dakota prevention and management programs: NDC3.org
