Frequently Asked Questions
Accordion Section Title
What is the cost of Kognito?

There is no cost!

During the 2021 North Dakota Legislative session, Senate Bill 2311 passed, authorizing the Department of Human Services’ Behavioral Health Division to offer an evidenced-based, online virtual mental health and suicide prevention simulation-based training program that incorporates hands-on practice, contextual learning, and personalized feedback through interactive role-playing available to school personnel in public and nonpublic schools.

Accordion Section Title
How can I implement Kognito in my school or district?

At-Risk for Educators can be used as a standalone training, or it can be rolled out in conjunction with an online or face-to-face workshop where staff delve deeper into the issues and skills learned. The blended-learning option is ideal, as it reinforces learning and provides staff a chance to discuss school-specific policies and resources.

Implementation Options:

  1. Staff complete the simulation only
  2. Staff complete the simulation, then discuss in a workshop session (recommended)
  3. Staff complete the simulation during a larger workshop, with before and after discussion

What is B-HERO? Or what is a Behavioral Health Resource Coordinator (BHRC)?

The Department of Human Services-Behavioral Health Division is in contract with the Central Regional Education Association to develop and operate the Behavioral Health in Education: Resources and Opportunities (B-HERO) Technical Assistance Center. B-HERO provides technical assistance and shares weekly messages filled with evidence-based content and aligned opportunities addressing the behavioral health topics that are most important to today’s educators.

A Behavioral Health Resource Coordinator (BHRC) is identified for every public school in North Dakota. The BHRC disseminates the behavioral health resources to schools.
