Caring for Our Children: National Health and Safety Performance Standards - Guidelines for Out-of-Home Child Care Programs is published by the American Public Health Association (APHA) and the American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP) with funding from the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services Maternal and Child Health Bureau (MCHB), Health Resources and Services Administration. This comprehensive set of health and safety standards is available in printed form and on the Internet.

Head Start

Head Start and Early Head Start are comprehensive child development programs, serving children from birth to age five, expectant mothers and families. The overall goal of Head Start is to increase the social competence of children in low-income families and children with disabilities and improve their chances of success in school.

National Resource Center For Health And Safety In Child Care

The National Resource Center is located at the University of Colorado Health Sciences Center in Denver, Colorado, and is funded by the Maternal and Child Health Bureau, U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, HRSA. The NRC's primary mission is to promote health and safety in out-of-home child care settings throughout the nation.
